How to use Essential Oils - Diffusers

Diffusers

Using a diffuser isn’t a whole world different to using an Oil Burner. A diffuser sprays a mist around the room or (depending on your style of diffuser) the oil is absorbed by reeds which release the fragrance. A burner, on the other hand, heats up the oil (mixed in water) so it evaporates. At the end of the day the result is still pretty much the same (that is a heavenly scent reaching your nostrils!)

The question of whether diffusers or oil burners are better really comes down to personal preference. The science here isn’t really in the method but the product. Or, as I like to say, the proof is in the pudding (the pudding in this instance being the Essential Oils).

"The proof is in the pudding"
Now a little voice in my head interrupts here and tells me I need to add the following obvious statement...
Essential Oils are... by no means... Pudding. This is merely a very intelligent play on words that you were supposed to find funny (insert applause here).

Anyway...

Back to science... let’s have a quick look at what really is going on when you’re using a diffuser. You see our sense of smell is a tool that can elicit powerful physiologic, mental, and emotional responses. When using a diffuser (or oil burner) Essential Oils are quickly absorbed by the smell receptors, which have a direct link to the limbic system by way of the olfactory nerve. The limbic system is part of the brain that supports a variety of functions including smell, emotions, behaviour, and memory. For this reason, essential oils have an especially powerful effect via aromatic application. These include relaxation, calming, uplift in mood... and so on.

Choosing a diffuser is a bit like choosing a car. They come in all shapes and sizes and some look cooler than others. If you’ve got a bit of cash to flash then hit up your local store or online and find the latest funky device which will spray essential oils every time you command it to. Alternatively, you can get something a lot simpler or better yet, make your own. There are plenty of guides online to follow (here is a simple one I literally just googled: https://www.wikihow.com/Make-Reed-Diffusers).

TL:DR - Really all you need to do is dilute your Aroma Energy essential oil in a carrier oil, put it into a suitable container, throw in some fresh reed sticks and bobs your uncle, you’ve got yourself a cheap homemade diffuser.

To summarise, in our experience the quality and benefits don’t really come from the diffuser but your oils!

It’s what’s on the inside that counts.
